Firas Fayyad / Last Men in Aleppo


Firas Fayyad is an award-winning filmmaker. He studied both cinematic and fine arts; and has directed/edited several films, both documentary and fiction, including Damascus and the Last Manifestations (2010), Few Minutes (2009), Windows (2012), Wide Shot-Close Shot (2012).

In 2011, while filming On the Other Side, a documentary about the Syrian Revolution, he was arrested and held by Bashar Assad's intelligence.

He's received recognition for his work about contemporary Syrian issues and the political transformation in the Arab world and was named in the GOOD 100 list of Global Citizens and Creative Change Makers.

Last Men in Aleppo was the winner of the Grand Jury Documentary prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2017.
