Sherif Nakhla / Les Petits Chats

Sherif Nakhla / Les Petits Chats

Egyptian Sherif Nakhla was born in Boston and spent his childhood in the US before moving to the Middle East.

After graduating with a double major in theater and mass communication from the American University in Cairo, he wrote for the culture section of Al-Ahram Weekly and produced and directed plays on the side. In 2005 Nakhla left the newspaper and worked for two years at the Tarek Nour Communications ad agency, before becoming a Sauvé Scholar at McGill University in 2007.

His first work after graduation was a short film called Miraculum on the taboo topic of Muslim/Christian teenage love.

Les Petits Chats, which took him 6 years to complete, is his first feature documentary.
