Hajooj was born in Sudan, relocated with his family to the UAE, and studied in Lebanon and in the United States.
His 2014 documentary Beats of Anatov premiered at TIFF, and won the People’s Choice Award. The film was broadcast on POV, has screened at over 60 festivals and won 7 international awards.
Alongside his filmmaking efforts, he leads workshops that teach visual language and storytelling to displaced people in the Blue Nile and the Nuba Mountains.
aKasha (2018) is his second feature-length film.
