New York première
Set over the course of a single night, in Algiers, a city, still reverberating from the “the black decade”, a couple, Amal and Samir are searching for a restaurant that would serve them alcohol to celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary.
While the brutal civil war has ended, its after effects are everywhere. Roaming the city discussing the push and pull of whether to leave the country, with its broken dreams in order to provide a better future for their son, the aforementioned son, Fahim, is hanging with his friends, dulling their boredom with drugs and alcohol.
The Blessed premiered at the 2017 Venice Film Festival.
