Mona El-Naggar / Istislam
Mona El-Naggar is an Egyptian journalist and a former reporter for The New York Times in Cairo. She spent many years covering political and social developments in the Arab world, including the recent wave of uprisings. She started shooting video for the first time during the Egyptian revolution in 2011 and has since moved to New York and obtained a masters in documentary at the NYU Journalism Institute.
Istislam is her first film; it won the Outstanding Documentary Award for the News and Documentary NYU class of 2013.
